Online Safety
Online Safety is about staying safe on the internet. Internet enabled devices such as computers, tablets and smart phones offer lots of new opportunities, but also present new risks which parents and children need to be aware of. Children are encouraged to always follow the SMART rules when using the internet.
Online safety at school
At Ranelagh, as part of the PSHE and computing curriculum children learn about all aspects of internet safety. The school has an annual online-safety day to help highlight the importance of staying safe online.
All new children, staff and parents also read and sign our acceptable use agreement, which details acceptable behaviour online and steps to take if worries arise regarding online-safety. This agreement, along with our overall online-safety policy can be found below.
Online safety at home
There are many places to find help and support in dealing with issues online. In school we proactively filter internet access to ensure that the children are not exposed to any inappropriate or adult material. If you are a customer of BT, Sky, TalkTalk or Virgin Media you can follow this guide to set-up parental controls on your internet access. Please browse the websites and links below which provide help and support for both parents and children.
In addition to this, if you have any other online safety worries, please speak to a member of staff at school. For information, the current online safety designated lead is Miss Flack.
Alongside Miss Flack, Mrs. Palmer and our ambassadors will be thinking about how to keep all of our pupils safe online by delivering assemblies to the school addressing any issues which we feel are important to us.

An excellent website to help support both parents and children with tips and advice to stay safe online.
Website supported by Vodafone, with links for parents to support children online. The site also provides a link to 'Digital Parenting' magazine which can be downloaded for free. The latest issue of this magazine is also due to be sent to be parents this Autumn term.
